Many of us have longed to live in beautiful mansions in heaven because this is what Jesus promised us: “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house there are many mansions. And if not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also.” (John 14:1-3)
The concept of obtaining mansions for the faithful is not just a distant dream but a tangible reality for those who earnestly seek it. It might sound far away, but it's possible if we follow the five simple steps. So, let's explore these practical steps to attain these heavenly rewards.
1.
Partaking the Divine Nature of God
The first step is to become partakers of the divine nature. It means “we need to be like God in character,” This means acting with love, kindness, patience, and
goodness, just like Jesus does. (You need to read Galatians 5:22,23 to see God's character) This means aligning our thoughts, actions and desires with the character of God. Just as a branch draws
nourishment from the vine, we must immerse ourselves in God's character of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness and holiness. That is the divine nature we must partake. There is a danger in
partaking only the 28 SDA fundamental beliefs because we will become critical like the pharisees and scribes in Jesus' time.
2. Escape Corruption in the World
Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we must resist the temptations of worldly pleasures and evil desires that lead to corruption. By maintaining moral integrity and upholding righteous living, we create space for spiritual growth and progression.
3. Enter the Holiest Presence of God through the Blood of Jesus
Yes, entering the holiest presence of God is made possible through the blood of Jesus.
The most important thing in our journey to heaven is understanding what Jesus did for us and what He has been doing at present in our behalf as our mediator. Remember, the central to our
heavenly journey is the recognition of the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ. He sacrificed Himself, and because of His blood, we can be close to God. This
means that through His shed blood, we access the holiest realms of divine presence and grace. We need to remember this and believe in the hope Jesus offers
us. Embracing the hope set before us in the gospel, we find assurance in the promise of eternal life and communion with God. In other words, by believing in
the good news, we can be sure of eternal life and being close to God forever.
4. Fasten Yourself to Christ
This means that we need to stick close to Jesus, like holding onto a sturdy rope. Not getting distracted by things that don't matter, and focusing on what Jesus teaches us. Our ascent towards heavenly mansions necessitates a firm and unwavering commitment to Jesus. By fastening ourselves to Him, we anchor our souls amidst life's storms and trials. Through the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives, we can detach from worldly distractions and pursuits, focusing instead on the eternal treasures awaiting us.
5. Be in Christ and Led by Him
To obtain the mansions for the blessed, we must abide in Christ while allowing Him to lead and guide our lives. In other words, we have to follow Jesus always in our mind and heart, moment by moment. This means believing in Him, following what He says in His Word, and growing closer to God step by step. This involves a dynamic relationship characterized by faith, obedience, and continual growth. By holding onto Christ and ascending towards God with each step, we draw closer to the fulfillment of our heavenly inheritance.
Ellen White encourages us that, "We must keep the eye directed upward to God above the ladder. The question with men and women gazing heavenward is, How can I obtain the mansions for the blessed? It is by being a partaker of the divine nature. It is by escaping the “corruption that is in the world through lust.” It is by entering into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, laying hold of the hope set before you in the gospel. It is by fastening yourself to Christ and straining every nerve to leave the world behind.... It is by being in Christ and yet led by Christ; by believing and working, ... holding onto Christ and constantly mounting upward toward God...." OHC 75
Getting to those heavenly homes isn't as hard as it seems. As we contemplate pursuing heavenly mansions, let us approach this endeavor with faith, perseverance, and unwavering trust in God's promises. By partaking of the divine nature, escaping worldly corruption, and clinging to Christ, we position ourselves for the abundant entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let's keep our eyes on the prize and trust that God will guide us to our heavenly mansions. May our hearts be steadfast, our resolve unwavering, as we journey towards heaven reserved for the faithful.
